Now we hear about brands. That is, we go to a store and buy something with or without much thought, thinking about the brand. From the creation of such a brand to the promotion of it, the work of the experts who specialize in it, the work is complex. Then we need to understand that creating a brand is not an easy task.
So is the situation the same when creating a personal brand? Yes. That too is a complex, burdensome task. But if we want to promote ourselves as a brand, we can do the initial work ourselves. Really think about where to start and what should be the starting point. For that, we thought we'd share a few important points with anyone who wants to make a brand of themselves.
01. What is a brand?
This is the first thing to think about. The brand really needs to be us, or what we intend to sell. Let's take an example. Here we are creating a perfume or a kind of perfume. Now we think we need to sell this. Should this be sold under our own name or under a name specifically made for this perfume? It really depends on other factors. For example, let's say people know us by name. That means someone like an actor, an actress, a singer. At that time, people knew us better than the name of the newly created perfume. Then we should be the brand. We need to sell perfume through the brand we say. But if we do not have such a name, it is best to use perfume as a brand.
What we mean here is that we need to understand if we really want to be a brand. Because being a brand is not just about showing off, it's about being famous. Instead we need to have an income, an income opportunity, a practical advantage like that.
02. In what field is the brand promoted?
Okay, now let's just say no one knows us that much. But we want to be a brand with future goals. Now we need to think about what we should be a brand for. For example, let's say you have Travel Photos, leaving your beautiful selfies like that, we are gradually building a big following on Instagram, Tiktok. Now that we're thinking about creating ourselves a brand in the future, and working on it, we need to have an idea of which side of the brand we want to be. There we need to think specifically about our goals for the future. For example, if a brand is making travel, modeling, and cooking, it is more likely to fail as a brand. This is really about finding our unique value proposition. There, for example, we can be a brand as a travel personality. They need to find it, considering their abilities, likes and opportunities in the market.
03. If you are a brand you have to be an expert
Now that we have found our unique value proposition and want to move forward with it, we must first understand that this is not something that can be done overnight. This is a work that needs to be done with dedication. Then all we have to do is become an expert in the field we choose. For example, suppose we want to create our own personal brand as a Travel & Food Critic. Then we just go somewhere, eat a meal, write down some details about that meal and leave some photos. We have to learn about Culinary, Food Trends. In short, we need a chef as well as a good knowledge of food. We have to get that knowledge. Only if we become an expert in such food and drink, will we be able to build a brand as a food critic. Or we're just another five years away and just a social media influencer.
04. 3C in Branding
When it comes to branding, there is a concept called 3C. Clarity, consistency, constancy. That is, clarity, coherence, and certainty. In the first place we have to decide what makes us a brand. That's what I said earlier. But there we need to be clear about how we are unique as a brand, what we do not get from another brand, but what we get. Then consistency means not changing one's focus on everything the brand offers. For example, if we sell perfume, we have to do it specifically. Otherwise, if you go to sell perfume, toothpaste, toilet cleaner and our brand, the work will be messed up. Finally constancy, that is, constant. It says something like this. Now we are promoting the brand. For months after that we had no voice. Then the brand is promoted as if waking up again. That does not work, the brand needs to be very stable and stable.
05. Say something from the brand
When we create a personal brand, we need to read a story from that brand. That means just coming to Facebook Live and saying ‘guys here is the latest perfume that comes in my name, get this here’ no one feels it. But if a story that people can feel deeply about can be created around that brand and product, that's how people feel about the product as well as the brand. We can use status updates as well as media like videos to create such a story. The more personal the story to the brand, the more impact it has. For example, when people say, "After choosing this perfume as a product of my brand, I have a memory of my first scent that my girlfriend collected and gave me in the early days of our friendship."
06. You also need to show that you exist
It doesn't matter if we just create a brand. It needs to be taken to the people. There are easier ways and means to do that now than ever before through the digital world. It can start through social media. We can simply begin to say that the brand has a Facebook page that we create in our name as a brand. But it cannot stop there. We need to creatively use all the popular social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TickTalk for our personal brand. Also, if we are branding ourselves, it is worth having a website with our name as well. Then when we Google our name, we also need to put our digital footprints so that information about our brand comes through. Even blogs and articles like that help.
Also, remember, we need to create brand awareness through networking. It's important to connect with other brands on social media, to connect with other brands that do not canonize our brand, that is, do not do what our brand does.
07. Feedback
Now it is not enough for us to build a brand. We may think that brand is dead. But do other people really find this brand deadly? That's what you need to think about. For example, flaws and problems that we do not see can be seen by outsiders about such a brand. That's why we need to get feedback from them. There we can ask those who work with us, our family and friends for such ideas. If we want 100% unbiased feedback, we can go beyond that and get such comments from people who do not know us personally, that is, friends of friends.
